Another 30 Stitches in Sampler 2

Continuing with my childhood joy of discovering new embroidery stitches and the "SAQA - Stellar 70" challenge (to do and post something creative for 70 consecutive days) lead to this second sampler. I photographed my art quilt "Cheers Metamorphosis" with an application called PhotoBooth. It creates the diagonal color stripes.

Starting with "0" zero the Pekinese Stitch around the center, followed by two knots:

1 Chinese Knot, top left

2 Colonial Know or Figure of Eight Stitch

Next, I explored Wheel-type stitches

3 Whipped Wheel - A Stitch with many names: Whipped Spider’s Web RIBBED WHEEL RIBBED SPIDER'S WEB BACK-STITCHED SPIDER'S WEB BACK STITCH ENGLISH WHEEL ENGLISH ROSETTE ROSETTE

4 Woven Wheel with an odd-number of spokes, also known as: SSPIDER WEB WEAVING, WOVEN SPOT, WOVEN SPOKE, BERRY STITCH, SORRENTO WHEEL

5 Bullion Knot or BULLION STITCH CATERPILLAR STITCH COIL STITCH KNOT STITCH POST STITCH PORTO RICO ROSE ROLL STITCH WORM STITCH GRUB STITCH BRAZILIAN STANDARD CAST-ON STITCH

All stitched in variegated cotton:

6 Wheatear Stitch

7 Buttonhole Wheel

8 Detached and Detached Twisted Chain stitch

For 9 Turkey Work, there are details including a back view:

10 Raised Chain (bottom right) and let's have a look at the sampler.

11 Holbein Stitch with variegated cotton

12 Pyramid Blanket or Buttonhole Stitch in gold, and in the same photo:

13 Cretan Stitch in white on the left

14 Loop Stitch, top left

15 Tied Herringbone with white and green cotton, bottom

16 Wave, bottom center

17 Interlaced Herringbone, bottom

18 Alternating Cross Stitch, top right

19 Chevron, a wide, cheerful zick-zack, left

By accident, I repeated number 19 for the "Grouped Buttonhole" on the right above the Whipped Wheel.

The next three stitches are pretty dense:

20 Persian or Closed Herringbone, bottom, a little to the left

21 Dutch Cross, left upper part

22 Cable Stitch, dark green on the right (below the Alternating Cross Stitch)

Adding stitches from the center to the wheels:

23 Needleweaving, left bottom

24 Diamond Stitch, right bottom

25 Interlaced Band Stitch. left top

26 Ceylon Stitch which looks like knitting on the right. It begins with a dark green outline, then stitched with variegated cotton/bamboo yarn.

27 Detached Wheatear Stitch with metal and embroidery yarn

28 Running stitch (which I use a lot for soft outlines) with metal thread

Since I started with zero and duplicated 19, this sampler is complete with 30 stitches.

Thanks for following along.
