Spring All Year Round
Each spring there are many daffodils blooming around our house and atelier. They have provided inspiration for many different sketches and paintings. My latest one is probably the most complex stitched painting to-date. (It is 30 x 42 inches, or 76 x 106 cm.)
Let me share the artistic journey of its creation.
Looking at real flowers, I sketch directly onto a “quilt sandwich” which is assembled on my design wall.
Then I stitched free-motion around the flowers and began painting the background. Finalizing the painting took a while.
Began stitching the background from the center outwards to the sides.
Used several kinds of threads, including metallic ones which gives the viewer interesting details to discover.
Gallery-wrapped on wooden stretchers, these Daffodils found a new home in California.
Thank you.
